Dr Francesco Pomati

Francesco worked together with Brendan Burns at UNSW during post-doctoral work at UNSW and has since relocated to Switzerland working as a group leader at the Swiss Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology. Francesco’ current work focuses on understanding the drivers governing phytoplankton responses at different scales, and use the data obtained to project future changes such as predicting cyanobacterial blooms. To address these goals, Francesco’s group has applied and developed new tools for studying microbial communities in their natural environment. Francesco still has an on-going collaboration with the Burns lab and maintains a healthy interest in the work on microbial ecosystem function in Shark Bay.
