Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Values

The Burnslab is a welcoming environment that is committed to upholding the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of a student’s experience in our group. We are dedicated to creating a positive, inclusive environment that embraces diversity in all forms and rejects any form of discrimination.  

In 2019 Associate Professor Burns was recognised with the Dean of Science’s Excellence Award for excellence in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and was also nominated for a UNSW President’s award for Embracing Diversity. In 2021 PhD student Fraser MacLeod was selected to be involved with a Faculty initiative – the Science History Trail Project -designed to increase the visibility of diverse scientists and redefine the traditional representation of a scientist by displaying the images and stories of diverse science role models throughout history.
